Parents’ Evenings and Reporting

How we run parents' evenings.

Parents’ Evenings

Annual Parents’ Evenings are an important part of the school calendar, and a vital opportunity to strengthen the partnership between school and home.  These give parents the opportunity to discuss progress in detail with subject staff.

Parents’ Evenings are calendared in advance and these dates are shared before the start of the academic year to allow parents to plan their time.  Invitations are sent to parents via email approximately two weeks before the event with bookings being made via the schoolcloud app..

Information Evenings are also arranged for some year groups at the start of the academic year, particularly for those in key transition and examination years.

Parents and carers of course are welcomed to school on many other occasions, for Revision Evenings, Open Evenings, Meetings prior to trips, Science Evening, School Productions and events to offer guidance and support at particular times for example Year 9 Options Evening and Progression to Sixth Form Evening.  We welcome parents and carers into school if at any time an appointment is requested to discuss any concerns.

Reporting

Twice a year, progress will be reported on and shared with parents/carers.  These are spread across the academic year.

In Key Stage 3, one of these grade sheets will follow an assessment period and will provide information about how your child is progressing through the curriculum in each subject area.  Alongside this, there will be an indication of Attitude to Learning.  The remaining grade sheet will provide a general overview of progress through the curriculum as well as your child’s Attitude to Learning.  The Parents’ Evening will follow one of these reports.

In Key Stages 4 and 5, each of the reports to parents will follow assessment/mock periods and will include an indication as to how well your child has performed across the curriculum alongside a target and estimated grade and an Attitude to Learning score.
