School Prayer & Liturgy

Loving God,
We gather together as a community in one
place where we all belong.
We thank You for our school, where we
grow strong in faith.
Help us:
To live together as a family;
To be the best version of ourselves;
To show excellence in all that we do.
May we follow Christ as the disciples did by
serving others.
May we care for Your creation by looking
after the environment.
We belong to a community of faith, hope, and
love.
We belong to St Bede’s.
St. Bede: Pray for us
Amen.

At St Bede’s, prayer is central to our daily life and identity as a Catholic school. We believe in the power of coming together in faith, just as Jesus taught: “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.” (Matthew 18:20)

Each day, students are invited to pray with their form tutor. This daily time of prayer follows the liturgical year of the Church, guiding students to reflect on the seasons of the Church, themes relevant to young people, and global events. It is a moment to pause, reflect, and bring their lives before God.

As part of our commitment to developing the Catholic ethos of St Bede’s, our school prayer was created with thoughtful input from both students and staff. This prayer reflects our shared values and faith, uniting our community in a common voice of hope and devotion.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that the liturgy, especially the Eucharist, is the “source and summit of the Church’s life” and the “privileged place for catechising the People of God” (CCC 1074). At St Bede’s, we recognise the deep connection between catechesis and liturgy. Our wide range of prayer and liturgical opportunities allows those who choose to participate an insight into the rich tradition of the Catholic Church.

Throughout the year, students also take part in Year Group Masses and Celebrations of the Word, particularly during Advent, Lent, and as part of the assembly programme. These moments of communal worship help to nurture spiritual growth and remind us of the presence of God in our daily lives.

In all things, we aim to raise our hearts and minds to God, seeking always to ensure that Christ is at the centre of all that we do.
