Behaviour
Rewarding positive conduct.
Our Behaviour Principles
Our Behaviour Policy is underpinned by the following key aims:
High Expectations for All We are ambitious for every student, including those who are disadvantaged or have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We ensure all students are given the support and opportunities they need to succeed and grow into capable, confident individuals.
Positive Learning Habits We actively teach and reinforce the attitudes and behaviours that lead to lifelong success—such as focus, resilience, independence, and a genuine enthusiasm for learning.
A Culture of Respect and Safety We are unwavering in our commitment to a safe and respectful school environment. We operate a zero-tolerance policy towards bullying, discrimination, racism, homophobia, and all forms of harassment—both in person and online. Every student has the right to feel safe, valued, and included.
Building Confidence and Self-Esteem Through encouragement, positive reinforcement, and the celebration of individual and collective achievements, we help students recognise their strengths and build self-belief.
Fostering Responsibility and Maturity We guide students to become thoughtful, reflective, and self-disciplined individuals who take ownership of their actions and understand the impact they have on others.
Strong Home–School Partnerships We recognise that promoting good behaviour is a shared responsibility. That’s why we work closely with parents and carers, forming strong, supportive partnerships that enhance each student’s academic and personal development.
Promoting Positive Behaviour at St. Bede’s
At St. Bede’s, we do more than manage behaviour—we actively promote and celebrate it.
· Our staff receive ongoing training to ensure consistent expectations and to create positive, supportive classroom environments.
· We provide enrichment opportunities and whole-school events that foster a sense of community, broaden students’ experiences, and build self-confidence.
· Our behaviour systems recognise and reward positive choices, while setting clear, fair boundaries and offering support for those who need help to improve.
· We tailor support to each student’s individual background, ensuring every learner feels respected, valued, and included.
Through this approach, we aim to develop well-rounded young people who not only achieve academic success but also grow into compassionate, responsible members of society who carry our values into the wider world
